Episode 23 Plot: Before Osamu Kirin kills Towa with a final blow, she regains her demonic abilities by showing no mercy as she stabs him right in his heart, killing him instantly. With Riku fatally injured, Towa is absolutely crushed. Riku claims that she helped him understand what love truly means and tells her that she must lives on as he passes on, reverting back to his original form. Towa toughens up as she wipes her tears away. She then reunites with Setsuna and Moroha to aid them. Sesshoumaru and Kirinmaru continues to clash with Sesshoumaru taunting Kirinmaru that he is acting more like a human. As Kirinmaru was about to land a hit on Sesshoumaru, Sesshoumaru easily overpowers him by slashing him unbelievably deep with Kirinmaru unable to see it coming as their battle continues to rage on. As Towa uses the Zanseiken and attempt to save Rion, Setsuna warns her not to use it as her kon will be drained once more due to the curse. Towa tells the others to carve their own fate as she uses the sword's power to save Rion from her regretful past and Osamu Kirin as she offers her body to her. Rion is now freed from her past and Osamu, but at the cost of Towa's life as she collapses which worries Setsuna and Moroha that they truly will never see their warm-hearted relative again. Rion fuses into Towa's body, as it disappears with Rion herself still remains. Kirinmaru is ultimately outmatched by Sesshoumaru, as he breaks almost every parts of his armor with Kirinmaru. Kirinmaru accepts his defeat and asks Sessoumaru to take him up to the Grim Butterfly's interior, so he could see Rion one last time. Kirinmaru apologizes to Rion for everything as they rebond. Rion requests Setsuna to cut the red thread of fate between her and her father. Kirinmaru agrees to it as he apologizes to the Half-Demon Princesses. Setsuna cuts the red thread, as Kirinmaru and Rion die peacefully, knowing that they will join Zero. Towa is saved as Setsuna and Moroha are glad that their relative has returned. The group discovers the Grim Butterfly disappearing from the sky. Towa, Setsuna and Moroha are congratulated by their family, while the others return to their peaceful lives.
